The Devil's Pool

That afternoon we took a boat to Livingstone Island, which lies in the middle of the river atop the falls. After a walk through the island we waded and then swam into the rushing waters of the Zambezi, making a chain with our river guide. He led us to a spot where we could ride the current down to a small bit of land and then jump into The Devil’s Pool, which lies at the rim of the falls.
The only thing keeping us from going over the edge was a narrow ledge of rock.  It felt like we were on the edge of the world-very exhilirating! The river guide warned us that the fish, which live in the pool, were likely to nibble on our skin, and not to flail or kick up our legs in reaction, or we could tumble over the falls. Steve and Tyler experienced the nibbling on their legs and feet. Some people pay good money at special spas and to have that exfoliation treatment and we got it free.
